Carol Bryan: (Director of Education, The Palace) began volunteering at Stamford Center for the Arts in 1995 while teaching ballet at the Stamford City Ballet School. Her passion for arts administration inspired her to pursue a new career. She served as Coordinator of Special Events for The Palace from 2002–2006, and in 2006 she was appointed Director of Education. More than 9,000 children have experienced in-school performances, hands-on workshops and master classes at the Palace, and diverse programming in their schools, community centers and libraries. In 2002, Carol conceived, created and implemented what became an annual DanceFest, offering master classes and performance opportunities for dance school students from Fairfield and Westchester Counties. This festival started with just 90 dancers and has grown to hundreds per year. More than 2,000 students have enjoyed DanceFest during its 17 year run! Other programs created include: The Young Choreographers Festival, Triple Threat Performer Intensive, Young Playwrights Festival: Script to Stage, ArtsKids, Circus Arts Camps, and the Emerging Young Artist Awards. Carol has been involved for many years with the prestigious organization, Career Transition for Dancers, as a client and as a panelist for seminars, working on annual galas, and appearances on stage in their galas to give testimonials supporting the unparalleled work CTFD offers to professional dancers. She has adjudicated dance competitions, and has been interviewed for dance articles and dance books relating to dancers transitioning to other professions. Carol served as Director of the Dance School at the JCC of Mid-Westchester for five years and was on the faculty of the Stamford City Ballet School, The Ballet School of Stamford and Greenwich Dance Studio.
Carol began her dance training at the age of eight at the School of American Ballet in New York, and continued her training at the Joffrey Ballet School and the American Ballet Theatre School. Her professional performing career was with American Ballet Theatre and as a guest artist with regional companies nationwide. Her teaching, choreographing and coaching experience spans more than forty years, training dancers in private schools, academies, colleges and regional dance companies.
